On 6 April, two new decrees altering the Basic Sanitation Legal Framework were published. Our Environment, Sustainability and Waste team has written an alert on the main changes.
The objective of the first decree is to enable the fulfillment of the universalization goals by the contracts in force, establishing guidelines and procedures for proving the economic and financial capacity of public service providers for the supply of drinking water or sewage.
The second decree deals with the regionalized provision of public services and basic sanitation, the technical and financial support dealt with in the new Sanitation Framework, as well as the allocation of federal public resources and financing with Union resources or managed or operated by bodies or entities of the Union, also the object of the legal framework.
