On 17 February, 2020, the Official Gazette of the Municipality of São Paulo published Municipal Decree nº 59.283/2020 declaring a state of emergency in Sao Paulo and implementing measures to tackle said emergency caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The decree, which will be in force while the emergency lasts, presents diverse measures, among them, the closing of public places such as museums and libraries, the delay of in-person meetings and events and the anticipation or suspension of vacation days depending on the sector.
