CGEN creates new Thematic Chambers to advance the strategic biodiversity agenda

The Genetic Heritage Management Council (CGen), responsible for coordinating the elaboration and implementation of Brazilian policies for managing access to genetic heritage, associated traditional knowledge and sharing of benefits, published, this week, three new resolutions to create thematic chambers aimed at:

(i) Proposing and monitoring improvements in the National Genetic Heritage and Associated Traditional Knowledge Management System – CT – SisGen;

(ii) Encouraging the sustainable use of genetic heritage and associated traditional knowledge; and

(iii) The implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Derived from their Use to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
