On 18 March, 2020, the São Paulo State Government issued Decree nº 64.865 to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, recommending the suspension of activities in shopping centers and fitness centers until 30 April. Supermarkets, pharmacies and health establishments within the centers may remain open as may activities not involving in-person service to the public. Other State Governments are adopting the same sort of policies to instill prudence and social and economic responsibility. This transitioning moment is prioritizing public interest over private but is essential to ensure the sustainability of companies and protection of employees in a post-pandemic future.
